Cold Shoulder Dresses

End of summer – early fall days can still be pretty warm here in KC and while it’s not warm enough to go completely off the shoulder, it’s also too hot to be all the way covered up. Sometimes I feel as though transitional seasons can be some of the most difficult to dress for! In the summer its easy to throw on a strappy dress and wedges and be out the door! At the end of the season this could leave you shivering in a corner (how dramatic I know 😉 ).  Having long sleeves with a peeping shoulder is the perfect solution to these in between temps!

To be totally honest this was the last outfit we were shooting on this day and I wasn’t feeling well and definitely wasn’t feeling pretty. I told Matt to just head home. Being the encouraging man he is matt told me just to try it on, take a few,  and just give it a chance. To humor him I obliged and i’m so thankful I did!

Now, the clothes definitely don’t make the girl, but let me tell you this outfit change gave me a 180. Once I put this on the improvement in my mood was instantaneous. The swing of the fabric, the way it hugged my curves in all the right ways , and then the pop out of my shoulders – it was like I was literally feeling beautiful! Any dress that can make me feel like that deserves a permanent residence in Closet de Scorse 😉

Another reason I love cold shoulder dresses is because you can pair them with boots or sandals. I paired mine with these lace up Madewell sandals, however I can’t wait to try them out with some cute ankle boots and a scarf this fall! The illusion of disconnected sleeves that the scarf will give will be so fun! Subtle exposures of skin – like an exposed shoulder – can make you feel even sexier than when you are in a totally revealing piece!

My exact dress is actually old that I did some modifying too with my needle and thread! (it had a keyhole in the neckline-wasn’t a big fan) Below are some dress I think could turn any bad day into a dreamy adventure!
