Power Dress

We’ve all heard of the old saying; dress for the job you want not the job you have. This saying intrigues me because as women there are millions of jobs we may want! Teacher, nurse, fashion blogger, stay at home mom, doctor, lawyer, principal, journalist, photographer, broadcaster, software engineer the list could go on and on. Who says we have to pick just one to dress for 😉

Maybe you are like me and can never really decide exactly what you want to be because you feel like you  won’t be satisfied just in one role. So whatever the role is I say dress to inspire and emPOWER. Those two things are EXACTLY what this dress does.

Dress |  Shoes (TTS very comfortable) | Bag | Bracelet | Watch

I got this dress for my MBA graduation. Coming from a nursing background an MBA was truly one of the last things I thought I would attain – but I am so happy I did! I think sometimes doing the thing that scares us the most is the thing we need the most. My entire outlook of society and the world changed after getting my MBA. Throughout undergrad I had only ever been involved in science classes  (aside from the one THRILLING interior design class I took, no sarcasm, all seriousness) so I knew how the body worked and how the environment could influence the body, but I never really understood what kept our society in motion.  Thanks to my MBA I feel like I finally understand how the business world works!

With this new found knowledge I wanted a dress that made me look and feel as though I had my MBA…kind of like I don’t think it’ll click for me that I’m getting married until I’m standing there in my wedding dress on my wedding day (btw totally not engaged yet…yet 😉 )  I also knew I wanted a dress I could wear again because unlike my fictitious wedding dress that I will wear once, I hate the idea of buying anything else and only being able to wear it once.

This dress is the powersuit of all dresses. It’s amazing because it’s a little bit thicker material which can hide any imperfection. It’s also the perfect length! Long enough to wear to work but the zipper in the back keeps it sexy enough to wear out! I feel like this will be my go to dress when Matt drags me to another business dinner (black also doesn’t hide wine stains…not that I would EVER spill). I could also wear this to a graduation, a performance at the Kauffman, a wedding, rehearsal dinner, the list could go on!

Lastly this dress did not cost me an arm and a leg! At right under $100 I feel like this dress is a must especially with its versatility! We were once at the Cashew (a bar in the crossroads district in KC) and I saw a woman wearing this dress in red.  I remember Matt asking me what I was staring at. I felt a little embarrassed because I couldn’t stop staring at her because I felt like I knew her! I knew I didn’t but why did I feel that way? Then I realized she was in my dress! The only difference was that she had some killer curves and was wearing it in red!  Lemme tell ya – this dress leaves a serious IMPRESSion.

Okay rant over lol but seriously this dress is amazing and you will receive SO many compliments! It does have a snug fit and I can’t stand to feel confined so I sized up to a medium, I normally wear a 4-6.  My sister who is typically a 0-2 got a small and it fit her perfectly.

Thank you so much for reading! I hope you have a wonderful day!

Xoxo

  1. It’s an amazing dress, and you look fabulous in it. I love the exposed back zipper. And what a great price too! Congrats on your MBA
