Weekly Workout


I’m sure all of you have considered either upping your workout routine or starting one with the new year! As a nurse I can tell you that being active is one of the most important things you can ever do for yourself. However, it’s all too easy to get caught up in the hype of working out and starting routines that you can’t stick with. One of the most important things I ever learned from my grandma was to never start a workout routine you couldn’t couldn’t stick with.  This doesn’t mean you shouldn’t train for that half marathon because you can’t always be training for a half marathon, I’m talking more extreme dieting or working out. There is a reason they are deemed “extreme” aka not cut out for everyday life.

Like everyone else I’ve definitely gotten off track with my workouts before! Between being in weddings and my own wedding not to mention a few beach vacations in between I’m all the more inspired to keep up with a consistent workout. The most common reason I stop working out is because it becomes boring and monogamous.  To combat that I’ve developed a routine where every day is different! This workout routine can also be done without a gym!


Monday: run 2-3 miles. I never set a time or a pace for my run. I start off slow (around 10 min/mile pace) and increase my mph as I go. I always try to sprint the last quarter to half mile, plus when you sprint its over quicker (not to mention you are burning more cals!)

Tuesday: Jillian Michaels 30-day shred. I typically do level 2. But if that is too hard you can do level 1!  I YouTube the workout on my iPad and set it up under the TV. Since I watch the video so much I already know all the moves, so I watch the T.V. I missed the night before (because I go to bed at 8:30pm). This also helps combat feeling bored!

Wednesday: Rest in the AM, walk Denver in the PM. I just try to make sure I hit 10k steps this day, but don’t put pressure on myself.

Thursday: Cardio Kickboxing. Again I put my iPad underneath my TV and watch something from the DVR or the morning news! Its only 25ish minutes and gives me the long and lean muscles I’m looking for!

Friday: Yoga video. Sometimes I do this one, which is my favorite, other times I also do this one, or I’ll just google yoga video and try a new one! It’s so relaxing and stretches out my sore muscles from the week!

  1. I have always hated cardio and plyos. I lift. And heavy haha. But I need to start doing cardio. The Jillian Michales program is very famous but I have never looked into it! I will try that!

    1. Thats so awesome that you lift! I’m the exact opposite, I love cardio but don’t love lifting. You should totally try the Jillian Michaels video its such a great mix of cardio and lifting!

    1. I LOVE the cardio kickboxing, its great because its moves I don’t normally do so my body is still learning it, which keeps my mind busy and off the fact that i’m actually working out!

    1. I’m glad you like it Victoria!!! OMG i’m the most uncoordinated human ever! You should 100% give it a try, especially if its at home, no one to see you fall, haha at least that’s what i tell myself!
