Wedding Wednesday: Guest Attire

Hello Hello!  Welcome to a new mini series on the blog- Wedding Wednesday’s! As most of you know I’m getting married this August, so for all you bride to be’s out there, get ready there is a TON of great information coming your way (especially those living in the Kansas City area). If you are just attending a wedding or two this season don’t worry, we have four on our calendar and i’m planning to cover everything you need to know as a guest as well! To kick off the series I’m going to cover something everyone can relate to- wedding guest attire!

Dress (only available in Black & Red) Similar Pink Here | Shoes | Clutch  (similar) | Necklace | Lipstick (wearing “syrup”) |Ring from Tivol

First off follow the ultimate wedding guest rule and do not wear white. I don’t care if you read an article where it says that wearing white is the “new” thing, it’s not. Unless the bride herself ask you to wear white, which she won’t, so don’t! One of the first things I look for in a dress to wear to a wedding is how comfortable it is. Looking good is great and all but HAVE to be comfortable! Not only do you need to be able to sit in the dress you haave to be able to move and grove in that thing too! How awful would it be to not be able to dance your night away all because you can’t move in your dress? The second thing I look for is how good I feel in the dress. Weddings are fun events and your outfit should be fun as well! When in doubt  go some elegant lace and safe colors (pink, black, and navy).

Next up, consider the formality of the wedding.  Look at the invitation. If it says black tie think floor length and darker more elegant colors.  Cocktail – typically darker colors, however some lighter hues are just fine (nothing bright pink here) and the dress can be shorter. Lastly if it is not indicated on the invitation err on the side of sophistication. It is hands down, without a doubt, better to be over dressed than under dressed.

Lastly- Shoes of course!

That stiletto might look darn good but we all know it’s killer on your feet, not to mention the rest of your body (terrible for your spine, posture, and feet). Pick heels that you are comfortable in. For me this is anything under 3 inches. Block heels happen to be very in this season are also wonderful because they are even more comfortable than the traditional spike heel. Here are a few shoes that I love and are comfy! These shoes that I’m wearing are under $40 – um yes please!  Also, if you do have to wear those killer shoes because they are just too goregous, make sure to get yourself some sole serum. I know you’re thinking really Julie, this sole serum stuff again? Yep the stuff is THAT GOOD. Never go without it!

I hope you are all having a wonderful week! Thank you so much for reading, I really appreciate it!
